Learning Context Dependent Concepts
نویسنده
چکیده
This article presents the concept of context dependent classiication. In context dependent classiication of elementary objects, an elementary object is represented by a node in a graph. A node can be identiied to belong to a certain node class, if one of the characterizing contexts for that class can be embedded in the graph properly. Thus, the classiication of a node does not only depend on properties of the elementary object itself, but also on properties of its environment. For learning a context dependent classiier, the characterizing contexts have to be learned in addition to the relevant properties of the node itself. A context will be approximated by paths of a certain length. This way the context can be described by feature vectors and well-known decision tree induction can be used. For induction, the context depth is increased until the classes can be separated suuciently. In this article, the context dependent classiication of elementary objects is generalized to a context dependent classiication of tuples of elementary objects and of substructures. The classiication of structured objects is a special case of the context dependent classiication of substructures. Learning context dependent classiications can be important in many applications.

Knowledge Translation in Healthcare – Towards Understanding its True Complexities; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”
This commentary argues that to fully appreciate the complexities of knowledge transfer one firstly has to distinguish between the notions of “data, information, knowledge and wisdom,” and that the latter two are highly context sensitive. In particular one has to understand knowledge as being personal rather than objective, and hence there is no form of knowledge that a-priori is more authoritat...

Introduction: Along with the transition from the digital era to the era of cyber-technology, medical professionals have been forced to use different conceptual systems to meet their informational and communicational needs. These emerging scientific concepts each have specific meaning which should be redefined in their own context so that they could be utilized in the conceptual systems of speci...

متن کاملEffective Learning in Dynamic Environments by Explicit Context Tracking
Daily experience shows that in the real world, the meaning of many concepts heavily depends on some implicit context, and changes in that context can cause radical changes in the concepts. This paper introduces a method for incremental concept learning in dynamic environments where the target concepts may be context-dependent and may change drastically over time. The method has been implemented...
متن کاملELT educational context, teacher intuition and learner hidden agenda (a study of conflicting maxims)
This study, first, attempted to explore the conflict or tension between EFL teacher intuition or concepts and the conception with a composite view assembled from learner's accounts of the distinctive features of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), and second to investigate the latter's "hidden agenda" (Nunan, 1998) of what ELT should be. On the other hand, role of educational context as an i...
